Radio Station Construction

Station Formats

Every station we host runs one of three formats. Here’s what each one means, and a real example of each so you can hear it in action before you decide.

Format 1

24/7 Broadcast

Runs continuously, around the clock, just like a terrestrial AM/FM station. Listeners tune in to whatever is playing at that moment — there’s no picking a specific track or episode, the station is always “on air.”

Also available on: Radio Box My-Tuner FM Radio AppAvailability depends on your plan: Broadcaster includes one app of your choice, Premium includes all three. See current plans →
Format 2

On-Demand Content

Listeners browse a library and choose exactly what they want to hear, whenever they want to hear it — closer to a streaming catalog than a live broadcast.

Format 3

Scheduled Content

You choose your own schedule and content — new episodes go up on whatever cadence you set, similar to how a podcast is released. It’s a good fit if you’re producing episodic content rather than a continuous stream.
