We’re launching a GoFundMe campaign to invest in the technical side of Radio Mysteries: faster load times, zero broken links, and a site that’s easy for listeners to navigate. Here’s exactly what we found, what we’ve already fixed, and what your support would go toward.
What Radio Mysteries Is
Radio Mysteries is a self-built, WordPress-based hosting platform that lets creators launch and run their own branded internet radio stations, complete with custom station pages, song request tools, listener accounts, and search-friendly navigation, all engineered in-house. Our flagship station, Dance Your Ass Off Radio, runs 24/7.
The Problem We’re Working to Fix
We ran the site through Google PageSpeed Insights on August 6, 2026, and audited every URL in our sitemap. Here’s what real, unedited data showed:
- Mobile Performance: 70/100. Google’s target for a fast site is much closer to 90-100.
- Desktop Performance: 78/100. Better than mobile, but still short of “good.”
- Mobile Largest Contentful Paint: 10.0 seconds. Google rates anything over 4 seconds as “poor” — our target is under 2.5 seconds.
- Desktop Cumulative Layout Shift: 0.195. Google’s “Good” threshold is 0.1 or lower.
The good news: we don’t just find problems, we fix them fast. We also audited our sitemap and found two dead links (/add-a-station/ was returning a 404, and /about-us/ was silently redirecting to the homepage). Both were removed and every one of the 13 remaining sitemap URLs was re-verified as working — 100%. That fix took an afternoon. The performance work below is bigger, and it’s what this campaign funds.
Our Goal
- Load Time: mobile and desktop PageSpeed Insights load times both under 2 seconds.
- Core Web Vitals: Largest Contentful Paint and Layout Shift both rated “Good” by Google, on mobile and desktop.
- Broken Links: every URL in the sitemap and navigation resolves to real, working content.
- Organized: a clear, consistent site structure that’s easy for visitors and search engines to navigate.
Where Your Contribution Goes
- Performance Engineering: image optimization, caching, and hosting/server tuning to bring load times under 2 seconds and move Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and Layout Shift (CLS) into Google’s “Good” range on mobile and desktop.
- Full Site Link Audit: a systematic crawl and repair of every internal link, redirect, and sitemap entry across the platform.
- Navigation and UX Review: a professional review of site structure and menus so visitors and search engines can find content easily.
- Ongoing Monitoring: recurring PageSpeed and uptime checks to keep the site fast and reliable after launch.
